5 Fall Wedding Trends We’re Expecting to See in 2027

If you’re planning a fall wedding in 2027, you may already be thinking about colors, flowers, invitations, and all the little details that will make the day feel like yours. While wedding trends are always changing, we’ve noticed that the ones coming for 2027 feel less focused on following a particular “look” and more focused on creating a celebration with personality. Couples are incorporating richer colors, more interesting floral designs, thoughtful details, and experiences that give their guests something to remember.

The Knot recently released its 2027 Wedding Trends Report, highlighting some of the ideas they expect to see more of in the coming year. Their predictions include sophisticated color palettes, antique lace, monofloral installations, whimsical florals, interactive food experiences, and extending the wedding celebration beyond a single day. (The Knot)

Of course, a trend doesn’t have to dictate your wedding. Some couples will love these ideas, while others will stick with something they have loved for years. We think that’s the best part of wedding planning. Trends can give you inspiration, but your wedding should still feel like you. With that in mind, here are five 2027 trends we’re especially excited to see come together for fall weddings at Hidden Springs.

1. Rich, sophisticated color palettes

Fall has always been a season that naturally lends itself to beautiful color. Deep greens, burgundy, rust, warm neutrals, and soft creams have been popular for years, but we’re expecting couples to play with those colors in some new ways in 2027.

According to The Knot, sophisticated color is one of the major wedding trends for 2027, with rich merlot, plum, moss green, powdery blue, blush, and champagne among the colors gaining attention. The Knot also reported a 127% year-over-year increase in interest in this particular trend. (The Knot)

For a fall wedding, we love the idea of taking one of those deeper colors and pairing it with something a little unexpected. Burgundy and soft blue can feel completely different from the traditional fall palette, while plum and moss green bring in plenty of seasonal color without feeling overly themed. Even a combination of chocolate brown, cream, and dusty rose can create a warm fall palette.

This is also a trend that can be interpreted in small ways. Your color palette doesn’t have to dictate every detail of your wedding. Maybe the bridesmaids wear different shades within the same color family, while the flowers bring in another complementary tone. Maybe your stationery introduces the deeper color and the reception brings it back through candles, napkins, or floral arrangements.

At Hidden Springs, we especially love seeing couples use the natural surroundings as part of their color inspiration. The woods, lake, greenery, and changing leaves already give you a beautiful backdrop, so your wedding colors can complement what is naturally happening around you rather than trying to compete with it.

2. Antique lace with a modern feel

Another trend The Knot is predicting for 2027 is antique lace. Searches and interest in antique lace have increased significantly, and the trend is showing up beyond wedding dresses and veils. Couples are incorporating lace-inspired details into their stationery, tablescapes, fashion, and overall wedding design. (The Knot)

For fall weddings, this one makes a lot of sense. Lace naturally brings in a little texture and nostalgia, which pairs beautifully with the warmer, more layered feeling of the season. But incorporating antique lace doesn’t mean your wedding needs to look vintage from top to bottom.

A modern wedding can use the trend in much smaller ways. An invitation suite with a lace-inspired pattern, a textured table runner, embroidered napkins, or a vintage-inspired veil can bring in the look. You might even find that a single detail is enough to give the entire design a little more character.

We love this approach because it gives you room to mix styles. A clean, modern reception space can still have a few softer, more nostalgic details. At Hidden Springs, our event barn has a modern feel, while the property itself brings in natural wood, greenery, and the history of the old summer camp. Those different elements can work together without everything needing to match perfectly.

3. Florals with more personality

Flowers continue to be one of the easiest ways to change the feeling of a wedding, and 2027 is bringing some fun ideas into the mix. The Knot is predicting both monofloral installations and whimsical floral designs as major trends for the year. Monofloral arrangements focus on one flower or a very limited selection, while whimsical designs are more playful, organic, and less structured. (The Knot)

For fall, there are so many ways to interpret this without making your flowers feel overly complicated. You might choose one flower as the focus of your ceremony arrangements and let the surrounding foliage add texture. Or you could work with your florist on arrangements that have different heights and shapes rather than making every centerpiece look exactly the same.

We’re also seeing more interest in flowers that feel intentional without looking overly perfect. A bouquet with movement, branches extending slightly beyond the main arrangement, or a reception centerpiece that feels gathered rather than perfectly symmetrical can add a lot of personality.

The Knot’s floral trend report also points toward sculptural flowers, exposed stems, grounded installations, and floral designs that feel more connected to their surroundings. (The Knot)

That last part is especially relevant for outdoor weddings. When you’re surrounded by trees, a lake, and the natural landscape, there is already so much visual interest around you. Your flowers don’t have to transform the entire space. They can work with what is already there and add another layer of color and texture.

We’ve seen couples do this in completely different ways at Hidden Springs, and that’s what makes each wedding feel so different. The same ceremony area can look completely different depending on the flowers, colors, season, and personal details a couple brings into the space.

4. Weddings that give guests an experience

One of the bigger shifts we’re expecting to see in 2027 is a continued focus on what guests actually experience during the wedding. The Knot has highlighted interactive food and beverage experiences as one of its trends for the year, along with more personalized menus and food that becomes part of the overall celebration. (The Knot)

We love this because it doesn’t necessarily mean adding more and more things to your wedding. It can be as simple as thinking about how people will move through the day and where they’ll naturally want to gather.

Maybe your cocktail hour has a food station that gives guests something to interact with. Maybe dessert becomes a little display instead of simply being placed on a traditional cake table. Maybe you incorporate a family recipe into the menu or serve a late-night snack that has some connection to the two of you.

The same idea can apply to the physical space. A lounge area can give guests somewhere to sit and catch up during the reception, while lawn games can give people something to do earlier in the day. At Hidden Springs, our rental collection includes lounge pieces and other items that can help couples create different areas throughout their celebration.

The goal isn’t to fill every corner with something. Sometimes a few intentional spaces are all you need to make the reception feel comfortable and inviting.

For us, this is one of the most interesting wedding trends because it shifts some of the attention away from simply asking, “What will this look like?” and also asks, “What will this feel like for the people who are here?”

5. Extending the wedding beyond one day

The final trend on our list is one that feels especially natural at Hidden Springs: the continued popularity of the wedding weekend. The Knot included “Extending the Wedding” among its 2027 trends, reflecting the growing interest in celebrations that extend beyond the ceremony and reception. (The Knot)

We’ve always loved the idea of a wedding being more than one day. When your closest friends and family are traveling to celebrate with you, having a little extra time together can be just as meaningful as the wedding itself.

That might mean welcoming everyone with a casual dinner the night before, spending the morning of the wedding getting ready together, or having a relaxed breakfast with family the following morning. None of those moments need to be formal. In fact, some of the best parts of a wedding weekend can be the completely unplanned conversations and time spent together between the bigger events.

This is one of the reasons the history of Hidden Springs as a former summer camp is so important to us. The property was originally built around the idea of people staying, gathering, and spending time together. Today, our cabins allow wedding guests to do something similar. Friends and family can stay on the property, enjoy the lake, play games, gather around the fire, and spend time together before and after the wedding.

For a fall wedding, there’s something particularly nice about that slower pace. A cool evening outside, coffee with your bridal party the next morning, or an informal gathering with family can all become part of the weekend without needing to turn them into another scheduled wedding event.

We’ve written more about why wedding weekends are becoming so popular if you’re considering making your wedding more of a destination experience for your guests.

What these 2027 trends have in common

When we look at these trends together, what stands out to us isn’t necessarily one particular color, flower, or design element. It’s the fact that weddings are continuing to become more personal.

Couples are choosing colors because they love them, rather than because they are considered the “right” wedding colors. Flowers are becoming more expressive and less focused on everything looking exactly the same. Food is becoming another opportunity to share something meaningful with guests, and the wedding weekend itself is giving couples more time to actually enjoy having everyone together.

And that’s something we hope continues.

A trend should give you an idea, not a set of rules. If you’ve always pictured a classic fall wedding with ivory flowers and greenery, that vision can be just as beautiful in 2027 as it has been for years. If you want burgundy bridesmaid dresses, colorful flowers, vintage details, or something completely unexpected, that can work too.

The best weddings we see at Hidden Springs are the ones where the couple has taken inspiration from somewhere and then made it their own. Two weddings can take place in the same barn, on the same property, during the same season and still feel completely different.

That’s what makes watching wedding trends so much fun. They give you new ideas to consider, but you get to decide which ones actually belong in your celebration.
